Neuroendocrine cancer can occur in the liver and elsewhere in the gastrointestinal tract. These tumors are rare but when they do form, they usually occur in dogs nine years and older. While at a veterinarian's office, the affected dog will undergo several tests to rule out other health issues. To confirm canine liver cancer, various tests including blood tests, a biopsy of the affected tissue and an X-ray or ultrasound.
